Vanish failing is a bug, but it's a hard one to fix, and rogues are dominant in both PvE and PvP despite of it, so it's also not a "all hands on deck" problem either.

We have a change for Vanish in place for 3.3. You will get to try it out soon (tm). As promised, if it proves a significant buff to rogues, we may have to compensate elsewhere. Just because it hasn't worked as intended doesn't mean it will be balanced when it does.

* Dual Wield: Rogues now know this ability upon logging into the game at level 1.
* Stealth: This ability no longer has multiple ranks. While active, the single rank of this ability (available at level 1) allows rogues to move at 70% movement speed.
* Vanish: For the first second after this ability is used, neither Vanish nor Stealth can be broken by taking damage or being the victim of a hostile spell or ability.

The new Vanish:
Allows the rogue to vanish from sight, entering an improved stealth mode for 10 sec. Also breaks movement impairing effects. At the cost of 90% to 95% of the current HP.

So they will be at 10-5%hp when vanished? GG shadowfury kills \o/

Think I'm gona' reserve judgement on this until I see what comes out on the Live servers,not entirely sure wtf Blizz are up to with this but the fact they say they will have to compensate with nerfs in other areas if it makes us overpowered,leads you to think there might be more to it....

Vanish in 3.3
We need to make Vanish work as advertised. As I've said, if this results in a massive net buff for rogues, we will compensate in other ways. However, the intent isn't that it's another version of Cloak. We just want to compensate for server lag, missile travel time and the like. It's entirely possible 1 sec is too generous to accomplish the job and a smaller number will work. That's the kind of thing we will be evaluating through the PTR process.

Unless my understanding of the spell is completely wrong, Flare actually removes stealth, so it should work in any case. I will verify this part tomorrow.

Dear everyone else, we're not going to let a broken ability stay broken just because the class is doing well. That's not good design. As I said, we may have to make adjustments in other ways.

So,does it clear all current hostile spells in the process like CoS or just make you immune for that half second?

It will work the same as it does now, except the new vanish will give 0,5 sec immunity to all damage. Probably enough to negate the server lag which caused us to get attacked out of stealth after vanishing. Just dont vanish when you are dottet..
