I dont really have anything fancy, still trying to find something i like more than xperl tho, but my 30" screen gives me plenty of room to play with, just unfortunately most addons look pants on that acreage

*I provide 24hr on call technical support to a major oil firm, its 1 week on / 1 week off – so when I am on call I may not always be available, depending on the number of rigs we have drilling / the number of freshly shaved chimps (sorry engineers!) that I have to deal with.

WotLK Naxx was my first taste of raiding, as Palabulous only managed to twist my arm into playing around September that year

Character specific questions


Explain your current gear choices and how you hope to improve them in the future, meaning which stats do you prioritize and why.

I play as a combat rogue 20/51/0, hack and slash spec, so I am all about being a 3ft maniac lumberjack :p
Due to 4 part T10 being crap for combat, and of somewhat dubious value to Assassination rogues, my gear is based around the tier head and shoulders for the delicious 2pT10 bonus.
Until cataclysm comes I will continue to increase my ArP towards the hardcap, and like may dps classes I am drooling over the ArP trinket from Ruby Sanctum
The T10 Shoulders could do with being upgraded to Sanctified… but other than that, as I have a pretty nicely balanced gearset the only real upgrades for me are the higher stat budgeted gear from HM’s.

Comment on how you've chosen to gem and enchant your character, and why you have chosen these gems/enchants.

With the gear Quiz has, ArP comes out ahead of all other stats as he is sitting at 1285 unbuffed. I have the usual nightmare tear in a blue socket to activate the metagem.
As Quiz is an engineer he has the, glove enchant for a nice haste cooldown, as well as the Flexweave cloak enchant for a whopping 1 agil more than the standard enchant – but when you are as short as he is, falling off barstools is scary, so a parachute comes in handy.
I’ve played around with having cats/tuskarrs on the boots, but find that the engineering boot enchant, alternated with sprint does the trick of getting me from A-B at speed.


What glyphs are you using and why?
Sinister Strike – fully raid buffed I am looking at around a 60% crit rate, so this helps to pad out combo point generation
Killing Spree – lowers the cooldown
Eviscerate – at this moment in time I prefer to run a ruptureless spec
I could easily switch in the glyph of TotT for the extended tricks buff, especially in a situation like having another rogue to trade tricks with.


Could you point out the strong points and focus of your spec?
Cookie cutter ruptureless 20/51/0 spec, so I am all about getting in, helping the tank get a threat lead(if he needs the tricks), and then settling into the oh so complicated nS5E rotation.
An ArP stacked rogue hits like a freight train on steroids
Being a rogue is all about energy management, intelligent use of cooldowns / kick/ cc and not being afraid to toss an expose armour in if there isn’t someone sundering

Do you have any notable offspec gear and are you experienced/up to date with the mechanics of playing your offspecs?

I pick up a few bits of mutilate orientated gear if its going, but this is just a spec for messing around in PvP as I don’t really enjoy the Assassination spec


We require you to have at least one crafting profession (not engineering). If you have two gathering professions, would you be prepared to reroll one?
Quiz’s professions are pretty much optimum, and I have alts which cover gathering and other crafting professions.


General questions

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving?
Angels of Darkness, lack of 25man raiding, due to decline in members, and lack of commitment from players as the proportion of raiders who signed up and showed up on time to raids fell to unsustainable levels.
I’ll miss being an angel, and I’m glad they are back on their feet, but Quizzig’s journey continues and I really want to challenge myself and see what more I can accomplish with him .

What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others?

As a pure dps class the rogue provides great burst dps, as well as pretty good damage throughput. Tricks provides a good threat boost to tanks, although I would usually expect a competent tank to be ok for holding threat after the initial tricks on pull, as rDPS is better served by tricks going to another dps on cooldown.
Combat rogues also provide the nice 4% physical damage increase on poisoned mobs.


What 1 thing would you change about your class if you could?

Would probably make blind into a viable PvE debuff, but I’m happy enough with Blizz changing CoS to a 100% rather than a 90% chance, as it really sucks having a 10% chance to give the healers a heart attack as my tiny gnome butt gets fried.



What do you think you can add to Eternals?
A competent, mature raider who knows how to make the most out of his class – I guess I have a slightly twisted sense of humour too as gnomes are freaky little buggers


What do you think Eternals can do for you?
Provide me with a guild where I can really challenge my skill as a rogue, finally see the last of the icc content, and once cata is released give me the opportunity to really test myself against the content before it is nerfed into the ground.
I also love the idea of being able to hang out with people who can be serious and knowledgeable about their classes and still enjoy the game

Hi I’m Mark I’m 29 and I’m an alcho…. *ahem* wrong form I live in Scotland in the oh so exciting city of Aberdeen. I work for an oil services company providing real time data feeds to clients, and application/operational support to our field engineers.
When I’m not playing wow, simcrafting and finding ways to break my copy of Aldrianas spreadsheet or reading EJ I enjoy spending far too much money on my gaming rig…I’m still hoping I can “borrow” one of works ESX servers to test some hardcore multiboxing.

u can still play while u are on call, right? i menn it only if u get a call u need to leave, and if so. How often is this?

Yes, being oncall just involves being contactable - so if anything I tend to play loads more wow when oncall as I have to be near my pc
My actual job is 9-5 office hours, so all I really do oncall is check my email a few times a night, and if there is something going on that my nightshift engineer can't fix, then the call comes to me.
I usually have a 30min-1hr window to deal with problems when they arise; So its not like I would suddenly afk or dc in the middle of an encounter!
