Summary: Interesting fight when off-tank needs to kite oozes with cooperation with people who got debuff. Once ooze is big enaugh all raid moves and go back and thats it.

In addition to the increase in mob health pools and ability damage, there is also a new ability introduced in this encounter's heroic mode, which will require an adjustment in raid positioning. This ability doesn't come from Rotface or his oozes, but instead from Professor Putricide. Once Rotface is engaged in combat on heroic mode, and continuing throughout the entire encounter, Professor Putricide will stand up in his balcony overlooking Rotface's room and periodically afflict random raid members with a disease called Vile Gas.

This Vile Gas debuff, while sharing a name and even in-game tooltip with one of Festergut's abilities, affects players a bit differently. It will still hit randomly selected players, and will still prioritize players who are at range from Rotface if they are available. It will also still spread to any players within 10 yards of a targeted raider. (as opposed to 8 yards in the Festergut fight, silly Bosskillers ;p) However, rather than being disoriented and vomiting for 6 seconds, the diseased players will instead essentially be hit with a "root over time". Every other second for the 6 second duration of the debuff, the players will be momentarily stuck in place, and then freed until the next 'tick'. They will still be able to cast normally, so if they are not in any danger from a few moments of limited movement, the debuff can be ignored. However, if this Vile Gas hits the OT, or anyone in danger of being hit by Slime Spray, etc. then it should be dispelled by the same person removing Mutated Infection debuffs.

Positioning: To limit the effects of the Vile Gas, your ranged DPS and healers will need to spread out around Rotface rather than piling up right behind him, keeping 10+ yards away from other ranged players as well as being outside of melee distance. This will assure that the Vile Gas only hits 1-2 people at a time, instead of being spread among everyone, which would happen if the raid remained stacked up.


Other than the change in ranged DPS/healer positioning, the strategy for defeating this encounter remains essentially the same. Everyone will still need to watch out for Slime Spray, deal with Mutated Infections properly, and avoid standing in Slime Pools.

Slime Spray will hit hard enough to kill players within a couple ticks, so quick reactions will be required. Since there will be players spread throughout the room, everyone will need to watch the boss and quickly adjust their own position to get to safety, rather than the player targeted being able to run to a preplanned location.

Players should be prepared to handle a Small Ooze for a bit longer than on normal mode, since the Mutated Infection will need to be dispelled immediately. The player who had the Mutated Infection will have agro on the Small Ooze, and will have to kite it to wherever the OT or existing Big Ooze is at in the room.

The Slime Pools' damage is increased quite a bit on heroic mode,and the slowing effect from the large Slime Pools' damage tics will now stack, increasingly slowing players until they are rooted in place. So, it is very important that everyone in the raid remains vigilant of where the next Slime Pool will appear, in order to move out of the way before it happens. Otherwise, they may find themselves slowed too much to get out of the Slime, and/or dead before they can escape it.

Key points for this fight are quick reactions and a good situational awareness!
