Played Time on your character: Just over 61 Days /played
Profesions and level of professions: Tailoring 430 / Enchanting 350 (Soon to up to 400 for Rings).
Do you have a stable internet connection: Yes, ~60-100ms
Raid times and Experience:
Monday 19:30-00:00 - Yes.
Tuesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes.
Wednesday 19:30-00:00 - Most often (I'd say 75%-100% of the time).
Thursday 19:30-00:00 - Yes.
Friday 19:30-02:00 - Most often (Again, 75%-100% of the time).
Saturday 19:30-02:00 - Maybe (Not quite sure about this one. 50%-100%).
Sunday 19:30-23:00 - Yes.
Do you have pre-WotLK raiding experience, if so what?
Unfortunately, I have no pre-TBC experience, but I do have quite a fair chunk of TBC experience, as follows:
Karazhan: Fully Cleared
Gruul's: 2/2
Magtheridon's: 1/1
Serpentshrine: 2/6 (Lurker and Leo - We always skipped Hydross)
The Eye: 3/4 (Void Reaver, Solarian, Al'ar)
Zul'Aman: 6/6 (+3 Chests)
Mount Hyjal: 2/5 (Rage and Anetheron)
What 10 man and 25 man Ulduar bosses have you cleared and of which out of those bosses have you done on hard mode?
Due to my previous Guild being very small, and there hardly ever being an Ulduar25 PuG on Argent Dawn, I only have experience in 10-Man Ulduar, as follows:
Flame Leviathan: Normal, HM (2 Towers).
Ignis: Normal, (We always skip Ignis and Razorscale, so haven't even tried HM).
Razorscale: Normal, (As above).
XT: Normal, (Almost got HM down).
Iron Council: Normal.
Kologarn: Normal, HM.
Auriaya: Normal.
Hodir: Normal, HM.
Freya: Normal.
Thorim: Normal, (We usually have to wait like 30s for Sif to go away, but have never actually tried HM).
Mimiron: Normal.
General Vezax: Normal.
Yogg-Saron: Into P3 - Not downed yet.
Explain your current gear choices and how you hope to improve then in the future.
Right now, I only have 2 pieces of Tier9, but this is deliberate. "What!?", you're thinking? Lemme explain ^^! Basically, Destruction Warlocks enjoy a higher Stat Weighting for Haste Rating, than for Crit Rating, but Tier9 has next to -NO- Haste on it. In fact, only the Legs do. The rest is SP, Hit, and Crit. Therefore, my current strategy for gearing up is to stack as much Haste as possible through my non-sets (Wrists, Boots, Belt, etc), in order to compensate for the lack of Haste on the Tier9 pieces, before getting the juicy Crit that does come on T9.
With that in mind, I am currently using 2P T9 for the awesome Set Bonus, and then 2P T8, in order to procc the 2P T8, which is arguably the same, if not better, (for Destruction, atleast), than 4P T9.
To that end, I currently sport a good balance of Haste and Crit, without lacking either, and have a good idea of which pieces I aim to get before upgrading up pieces, etc.
Comment on how youve chosen to gem and enchant your character, and why you have chosen these gems/enchants.
I have Gemmed almost entirely for Spell Power, as this is -the- highest Weight Stat for a Warlock of any Specc. However, the best Meta Gem for us, Chaotic Skyfire, requires 2 Blue Gems, but Runed Cardinals (+23 Spell Power), are Red. Taking into account that Crit, Hit, and Haste, are all Yellow, I have decided to go for 2x Purified Dreadstone (+Spell Power and +Spirit) in order to activate the Meta. This is because it provides both raw Spell Power, and tertiary Spell Power through the Spirit, which scales with Fel Armour and Life Tap (a la Glyph of Life Tap).
Enchant wise, I have also gone solely for Spell Power. I use the +Spell Power & +Spirit Spellthread on my Legs, for the same reasons I use the Dreadstones (Spirit provides Spell Power through Fel Armour and Life Tap, whereas Stamina, the other option, won't). Finally, it has been calculated and proven that Lightweave Embroidery is the best DPS option for a Warlock, and so I have this on my Cloak.
What glyphs are you using and why?
Destruction: Life Tap, Conflagrate, Incinerate
Life Tap converts Spirit into Spell Power, for 40s. Considering I often Life Tap atleast 2-3 times in a 40s interval, and that I can use Life Tap Rank1 to activate this prior to a Boss Fight, the buff has an effective 100% Up-Time, resulting in a raw boost of DPS. Conflagrate prevents Immolate being consumed from the target when Conflagrate is used. Considering that the Immolate debuff boost Incinerate's base damage by 25% (literally), having the Immolate debuff up whilst still being able to Conflagrate is a massive boost in DPS, there is no way I wouldn't take this. Finally, I use the Incinerate Glyph because between 35% - 60% of my Damage comes from Incinerate, and boosting this damage by a further 5% is pretty much a no-brainer.
Affliction: Life Tap, Haunt, Curse of Agony
I use the Life Tap Glyph in Affliction for the same reasons as above. In addition, I use the Haunt Glyph because, with the majority of Affliction's DPS coming from DoTs, an extra 3% Damage on that is too good not to take. Also, I use the CoA Glyph because it makes pie-plating my DoTs that bit easier, boosts the DPM (Damage-Per-Mana) of the spell, and allows an extra 2 Shadow Bolts / a tick of DS and a Life Tap if in Execute Range before having to use the Global Cooldown, pushing my DPS up even more.
Do you have any notable offspec gear and are you experience/up to date with the mechanics of playing your offspecs?
With Affliction and Destruction sharing almost identical Stat Scale Weights, I can and do switch between the two very often, often switching between them super quickly just for a particular trash pack, because one massively outperforms the other (Vezax trash is a good example). I also read various forums, such as ElitistJerks, and both the EU & US Warlock Forums, to keep up to date with everything about the class. In terms of Demonology, although I know how the specc works, and how to play it, I haven't -actually- played it since the start of Wrath, and so am a tad bit rusty on that front. (Not afraid to try, though!).
We require you to have at least one crafting profession (not engineering). If you have two gathering professions, would you be prepared to reroll one?
I currently have Tailoring 430 (Ready for Cataclysm, whilst providing the "free" Spellthread and my Lightweave Embroidery. In addition, I have 350 Enchanting (high enough to DE every Northrend Blue and Green, though not Epics), which will be levelling to 400 for the Spell Power Enchants on my Rings ASAP.
General questions
Previous guilds and reasons for leaving?
Believe it or not, I've been with the same bunch of people for over 18 months now. But, things have started taking a turn for the worse, as people aren't turning up for progression Raids, only seeming to turn up when the Bosses we'll be killing that night are on farm, which is a serious slap in the face to me, as I'm predominantly aiming to see as much of the content in Wrath as possible (I never got to see Black Temple or Sunwell in their former glories - I ain't letting that happen again!). Therefore, I've started to get fed up, and want to see more.
What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others?
I feel the Warlock Class can bring many different and new things to a Raid. For example, a Demonology Warlock brings Demonic Pact, a Raid-Wide 12s Buff with a very high Up-Time, providing between 300-450 SP (Depending on how many Proccs are active on the Warlock at the time). We also bring Healthstones, alleviating pressure from the Healers; Soulstones, to help recover from a mistake or RNG; and finally, flexibility.
What I mean by flexibility is this. Yes, we can only DPS, DPS, or DPS, but because of the distinctly different, and yet synergistic, play-styles of each of the three Trees, a Warlock can swap to a specc that works better for him/her in that situation, whilst still bringing their DPS and Utility.
For example, I always switch to Affliction for General Vezax, due to being able to perform much more mana-efficiently thanks to the higher Damage-Per-Mana nature of DoTs, and then having my execute-range spell (Drain Soul) cost a tiny 157 Mana but and yet pump out rediculous numbers when stood on a Shadow Crash pool. In this situation, for me atleast, Affliction just absolutely blows Destruction out of the water.
On the other hand, I am often called on for Ranged-Tanking Mimiron's Head on P3 and P4, which, due to Destruction causing much more Aggro, both snap and steady, and then being able to switch targets much easier on P4 (Affliction's Ramp-Up Time is too limiting, and could, if people are being silly/not paying attention, end up killing one of the machines before the others are even close to death), I will always switch to Destruction for this particular fight.
I think both of those are good examples of how a Warlock can adapt their entire play-style according to the situation and show flexibility - With all 3 major Speccs sharing a very similar order of Stat Weightings, we can reliably switch between the three to execute a particular task on a tricky Boss fight.
What 1 thing would you change about your class if you could?
Soulshatter. A 3-Min Cooldown Aggro-Dump that only actually dumps 50%, and dips in to the most clunky Reagent system in the game? Argh, I hate it! If I were to go completely overboard I'd go for some sort of Ability similar to Feign-Death, but to be honest, baking more Threat-Reduction into the Destruction tree would probably help this cause much better.
What do you think you can add to Eternals?
I am a dedicated, experienced Raider who has, over the past 2 years, been Warlock Class Leader in two separate Guilds and Raid Led everything from Karazhan, to Gruul's, to Naxxramas, to Trial of the Crusader. I know my stuff, and I endeavour to squeeze the absolute most out of my character whilst enjoying the social aspect of an MMO. That is, interacting with my fellow Guildies, whether in-game, or over Vent (I'm quite talkative on Vent when not in a Raid!), and I'm not afraid to 'adventure' into new, quirky Speccs, Rotations, and even roles (back in TBC, when Demonic Empowerment was a lil' bit bugged, I tanked quite alot of Karazhan with my Void Walker ^^)!
What do you think Eternals can do for you?
My goal in this game is to see as much of the content as possible. As I mentioned earlier, after missing Black Temple and Sunwell back in TBC, I don't ever want to let that happen again. Eternals seems like a nice, solid Guild that is much more focussed on progression than my previous Guild, which is precisely what I am looking for.
Personal infomation; Name, age, where you live, interests/hobbies, Job and family that will nag you to stop raiding?
My name is Ash, and I'm 17 living in Manchester, in the UK. I'm studying at College currently, and have applied for a degree in Informatics (that is, EVERYTHING to do with Computers), at Uni for next near. My Interests include reading, gaming, programming, going partying on a Saturday night, and watching stand-up on TV!
Additional information which you would like to name?
Just wanted to say that, even if you should decide not to take me aboard, I want to thank you for taking the time out to read my Application, and I wish you all good luck with whatever the future might bring :-)
Regards,
Ash.
