General information

Character name: Truebow
Class: Hunter
Race: Night Elf
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ghostlands&cn=Truebow
UI screenshot: Prefer standard UI with add-ons Omen, DBM, Skada and others I find useful but not needed for raiding.
Played Time on your character (and how much of that at level 80): Total 125 days, 93 at level 80
Professions and level of professions: LW, skinning, fishing, cooking and first aid all at 450
Do you have a stable internet connection (Yes/No and average MS in raids): Yes, usually runs at about 160- 190 ms

What other characters do you have?
Shadow Priest level 80, Shammy level 80, Pally level 80 but don't play on it, plus lower level Rogue, Warlock, Mage, Druid, DK and Warrior all of which I play if extremely bored.

Raid times and Experience,

We raid 7 days a week, days and times could possibly change in the future, please delete yes or no below depending on whether you would be able to attend or not. (server times)
Monday 19:30-00:00 - No (depending on RL commitments)
Tuesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Wednesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Thursday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Friday 19:30-xx:xx - No (Please write latest time you could raid till here)
Saturday 19:30-xx:xx - No (Please write latest time you could raid till here)
Sunday 19:30-23:00 - Yes

Do you have pre-WotLK raiding experience, if so what?

Did not raid in Vanilla or BC as was almost impossible to get into raiding guild then, had a lvl 70 Druid main which I deleted in frustration, then rerolled a hunter to give the game a second try. Got into raiding in WoTLK.

What raiding experience do you have in WotLK? Please include which bosses you've done on heroic mode. Have raided mostly ICC but some Naxx and ToC on the way for gearing up, Have 11/12 10 man with some HC's, 7/12 25 man.

Character specific questions

Explain your current gear choices and how you hope to improve them in the future, meaning which stats do you prioritize and why.
Before 4.0.1 it was for agility, stamina and intellect for the RAP from stats, but since the patch I am looking at Agility and haste, Hit of course but have been able to drop some since the cap fell to 246, so reforged some hit to haste, hope to regen focus faster that way, but will maybe try to give up some crit in favour of mastery as there is a potential dps gain but not too sure yet.

Comment on how you've chosen to gem and enchant your character, and why you have chosen these gems/enchants.
Agility gems are the gem of choice for SV hunter and enchants as far as possible the same, think that is a no brainer atm. Maybe if we get new enchants I will try them out, but pretty happy with agility for now.

What glyphs are you using and why?
Prime are Explosive shot, Kill Shot and Serpent Sting, the explosive is the SV signature shot, Kill shot pretty obvious choice and I am thinking of changing Serpent Sting for Steady Shot as I use that a lot more to regenerate Focus.
Major are disengage, misdirection and freezing trap to increase efficiency or shorten cooldown
Minor are feign death, mend pet and scare beast for the same reason and also because there's nothing too exciting available.

Could you point out the strong points and focus of your spec?
My spec is specifically for burst dps and high output on boss fights, when all buffs etc proc it pays dividends but my trash fights aren't much to write home about as the dps builds slowly at the beginning and the trash is usually dead before things kick in!!!

Do you have any notable off spec gear and are you experienced/up to date with the mechanics of playing your off specs?
The gear I have pretty much serves both specs (os being MM) but I prefer to play sv and will not say I have too much experience in MM, and now SV brings a nice buff to the raid so I think it is not as vital to have the MM os like it used to be.

We require you to have at least one crafting profession (not engineering). If you have two gathering professions, would you be prepared to reroll one? I have LW

General questions

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving?
Icecrown Crusaders, nice social guild at the time but they weren't raiding so I moved on looking for progress.
Fusion Storm, again a very social guild but their raid discipline was poor, we would sometimes wait 90 minutes to start the first fight after invites.
Pandemonivm, the GM was very unfair with loot distribution and would change the rules to give his friends priority .
Angels of Darkness, have to say this is a super guild, you have a lot of members from there, and I will be sorry to leave but I want progress to get the LK down and start heroics. Unfortunately AoD have too few active raiding members to be able to sustain the effort needed to progress.

What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others?
Apart from DPS, I think our MD has to be a very nice opener, also our traps are useful, and some specialised shots useful in some fights, like concussive and tranquilising shot. Also our pets now bring some nice raid buffs although I have to admit I don't know all of them yet.

What 1 thing would you change about your class if you could?
I would like to see a slightly faster focus regen to smooth out our shot prioritisation, it feels a little staggered at the moment but it is not impossible to work with.

What do you think you can add to Eternals?
I hope I would be able to be a useful and efficient member of a raiding group, not too many fails!! I hope too that I could add to the social atmosphere of a guild as well.

What do you think Eternals can do for you

I believe that Eternals would make it possible for me to progress in the endgame and teach me more about efficient raiding

Do you know anyone from Eternals who might have something nice to say about you?
I know quite a few of the guys as there's so many ex AoD members there, more specifically I hope Slotsclassic, Kasha, Kordin, Palabulous, Xida, Quizzig,Trumpetka and others I haven't mentioned might say something nice.

Personal information; Name, age, where you live, interests/hobbies, Job and family that will nag you to stop raiding?
Mike, 34 years old, live now in Cyprus(ex UK), like the outdoors in the summer, bowling but still find time for WoW. Have a wife and 8 year old son. Self employed.

Additional information which you would like to name?
Nothing more than already said above. Look forward to hearing your decision soon and thanks for your time reading this.

Thanks for your application.

I'm always fond off gemming.
1) May I ask why you put your blue gem into the extra belt socket and not into the blue socket from your chest to get the socket bonus?
2) Why did you match the yellow socket in your neck for 4 agi socket bonus and not matched the yellow one in your belt for the 6 agi bonus or rings for the 4 agi bonus?

Hi m8, thanks for the heads up on those gem bonuses, the reason they are like that is that the gear comes in different times and I guess a little carelessly I gemmed them as I aquired them, taking care to satisfy my Meta gem bonus but not realising that there was slightly higher bonuses to gain if I did it as you suggest, I guess a few more agility points will come in handy so I will look at them again.

Pet Buffs:
Here is a suggested list of the 12 pets that you should have in your stable to cover every raid buff type. This list assumes that you’d prefer ferocity over cunning, and cunning over tenacity — so that you always have the highest dps pet providing your buff. It also assumes that you’d prefer a non-exotic pet over an exotic pet, so you’ll have more flexibility in what spec to use.

Note that three buffs are only provided by exotic pets: the burst haste (heroism), stamina (fortitude), and 5% stats (kings/motw).

Cat (str/agil)
Corehound – exotic (burst haste & cast speed reduction)
Silithid – exotic (health)
Wolf (crit)
Shale Spider – exotic (5% stats)
Raptor (armor debuff)
Bear (physical damage caused debuff)
Hyena (bleed damage)
Sporebat (cast speed reduction)
Tallstrider or Fox (attack speed slow)
Ravager (physical damage vulnerability)
Dragonhawk or Wind Serpent (spell damage taken)

**If your raid covers all these buffs then bring whatever the hell fercocity pet you think looks prettiest!

Mastery:
Gem for hit until cap (use hybrid agility/hit gems).
Covert crit to Mastery (dps increase). Don't worry too much about haste.

Pet buffs are currently broken though Razz (sunder for example reaches 3 stacks, then has to tick off before hte pet starts again at 1 stack)

Focus management isn't all that hard for a normal rotation now, so if you're finding it hard you really ought to be looking into why, there are add-ons such as Forte which help display cooldowns more clearly, as well as other more specific hunter add-ons which can show 'recommended' shots its not perfect, and by no means should you use it as gospel, but sometimes in a situation on a chaotic fight you can be tempted to go for an arcane shot not realising chimera/explosive is 3 sec away from CD.

Hehe, I just found out our other hunter wasted his +10 stats gem on a non socket bonus also.

Someone ought to slap trump and ask why he wasn't yelling at everyone the right way to gem. Indeed you should have a nightmare tear, and the only socket bonuses worth actually seeking for a hunter is >+6 agility, even at 6 agility the dps gain of a +20 agility still shades it by a point or two dps, however, if say through the use of a nightmare tear you can get it then its fine and ideal. But a nightmare tear still brings a lot to the table, as used right its like +16/18 agility and +10 strength with a total over 25 AP which is always nice.

Hey guys, thanks for the interesting replies I will take note and download a few addons to try, I am not finding focus management difficult but it is not as smooth as the old shot priorities based on the mana system; although I have to say I am very happy mana is a thing of the past.

The pets are something I am going to start taming, I have one of each family but will expand the stable to get the buffs. Thanks for the detailed list of pets, nice to have something to work towards.

LOL, I am pretty sure that most of us have a gem or two out of place but its nice to get an audit.

Trump still up to his old ways? Nice to have someone to keep you on your toes!!

He meant trump like trumpet i guess. I am willing to roll warrior, even roque but hunter? No way. I know nothing about hunters, i am still waiting to meet a player who would make playing hunter look reasonable. So far... I think all those people behind their hunters are ...strange.

Cya at the end of month when I am back from holiday.

BTW. Havent played wow 6 days and I am already close to murder somebody.

And good luck with your application Truebow.

Hey Truebow

Well as you allready know I have been away for half a year so I am a bit behind in stuff, gear etc, however some suggestions from Twicc "oldtimer" Wink

Go JC as second proffesion, cost a bit more to not have an gather if you only have one main caracter. However you gain a lot more agil on going for 3x +34 agil instead of 3x +20agil you will gain +42 Agil gems that JC brings gets you extra, LW is ok.

I been reading at least before patch there was no use to go for socket bonus, you need one of+20agil instead of your two +10agil + X and other one change to as Sánty says go for Nightmare tear cos that gain you compare what you have today.

And the MEta slot I have an bugg so it work anyhow for the +21 and 3% crit if I go all red Agil gems...

...and I can tell for sure at least for me who went away for a while, hard to come back direct into hardcore guild but very very fun

So good luck in your apply m8 Smile

Thanks trump m8, enjoy the break, and Twicc too, nice to see you again.

I was reading somewhere, there's a view that nightmares tear has less return for hunter than before as only benefit from stamina and agility +10 the other stats being pretty useless, therefore I have changed that gem to see if the theory holds true, if not I will put one back.

It won't to get your gem bonus otherwise you have to drop 2 agility gems, if you need to do that to be hitcapped then its a different matter, but dropping +20 agility (going with a blue +10 and a yellow +10 to get the meta active) means that instead of having 30 agility, 10 strength (40 ap) and 10 stamina you have 20 agility, no strength and maybe just some crit which most hunters will already be very high on.

I have changed a couple of gems around and also reforged some gear to change crit for mastery, now have around 17%, also changed the glyph of serpent sting for staedy shot. So far on the test dummies it seems to have increased my dps by arount 5% in all. The test was only for arount 20 mins though so i will have to see in a raid with full buffs to get the real picture.
