Potions - boomkin application (Accecpted)

Post  Potions on Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:57 pm

Characters name: Potions
Class: Druid (male)
Race: Night Elf
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ghostlands&cn=Potions
UI screenshot: After playing around with many UIs, for some strange reason I am most confortable with the standard Blizz UI!
Played Time on your character: 62days, 13 hours, 50 minutes, 53 seconds (approximately)
Profesions and level of professions: Currently I have both Alch and Herb at 450, all secondary professions are 450 also. I have been thinking for a while to change my main professions to provide more of a dps boost - looking at JC and Enchanting, considering LW or Tailoring also. I have the gold to be able to power level these very quickly, and enough alts to provide many of my own mats.
Do you have a stable internet connection (Yes/No and average MS in raids): Yes 8mb broadband which gives me a constant latency of 50-60ms, and fps ranging from 30-60fps. As a boomkin recently achieving the many whelps achievement and having no issues - I am confident of my connection.

What other characters do you have? Well, not that I am addicted to the game, but I have 7 other level 80s. Why? I love to be self sufficient with all professions. Also, I like to have an understanding of all classes to help my raid knowledge and expectations of other classes. Most of my alts are very low geared and purely are to make gold to keep my druid accustomed to the standard of living he expects. So the 80s I have are a lock, priest, shammy, paladin, warrior, mage and dk. I tend to level characters during holiday periods for myself.

Raid times and Experience:

We raid 7 days a week, days and times could possibly change in the future, please delete yes or no below depending on whether you would be able to attend or not. (server times)
Monday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Tuesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Wednesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Thursday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Friday 19:30-xx:xx - Yes - until we have finished the raid/boss/instance
Saturday 19:30-xx:xx - Yes - until we have finished the raid/boss/instance
Sunday 19:30-23:00 - Yes/

Due to my work I have very occasional meetings - normally a Monday and around once a month. I always know when well in advance and would be able to let people know the dates.

Do you have pre-WotLK raiding experience, if so what?
BC - BT up to and including Bloodboil
HS - upto Archimonde (people seemed to fail so bad at tears clicking!)
TK - full clear
SSC - full clear
Karazhan - full clear
Gruuls - full clear

What 10 man and 25 man Ulduar bosses have you cleared and of which out of those bosses have you done on hard mode?
Ulduar - 10man all hard modes except Yogg
Ulduar 25man - As far as Hodir (patch then came out)
Toc - heroic 4/5 10man
Toc - heroic 1/5 25man
ICC - 9/12 10man
ICC - 7/12 25man

Character specific questions:

Explain your current gear choices and how you hope to improve then in the future.
My current choices have been built around my stat priorities. First mission was to be over 1000 crit, whilst maintaining the soft haste cap. Since I have achieved this now, I am looking to increase my haste rating more, whilst maintaining my crit. I am slightly over the hit cap and have some flexibility here. My pvp cloak is there because I have yet to encounter one with better stats - they are out there but have been avoiding me. Also, my second trinket needs upgrading and I see this merely as a place holder.

Comment on how youve chosen to gem and enchant your character, and why you have chosen these gems/enchants.
Most of my gems are 12sp and 10crit - reason for this was to reach my crit cap of 1000. I have taken the two standard blue gems 12sp and 10spirit to allow my meta gem to achieve the bonus. I have also some 23sp gems. My enchants are all the standard top range dps ones. On my feet I have the boots for the speed increase as theorycrafting has stated this is a slight dps increase due to movement in ICC.

What glyphs are you using and why?
Major - Moonfire, Starfire, (standard 2 boomkin glyphs) and starfall (this has replaced IS since the patch and has provided me with a very good boost in dps.
Minor - Rebirth, aquatic form and thorns

Do you have any notable offspec gear and are you experience/up to date with the mechanics of playing your offspecs?
I have resonable off spec for healer. Resto is my duel spec and have been called to use this during 10mans when we only run with 2 healers until the later bosses. I would consider myself a competant healer, no way a main healer. I tend to spend most of my reading keeping up to date with the balance forums. Also, i have been picking up tanking gear - though this I just see as a plaything rather than an interest I want to currently pursue.

We require you to have at least one crafting profession (not engineering). If you have two gathering professions, would you be prepared to reroll one?
My current professions as stated are alch and herb. Yes I would change either or both of these upon advice or to suit the needs of the guild, or to increase my performance.

General questions

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving?
BC guild - Random Violence (darkspear) Guild disbanded after a server move
Current guild - Angels of Darkness. I have been an angel for a long time now (not if you ask my fiance though!). I joined them because they were a newish raiding guild with goals of good progression. Recently the progress has been slow due mainly to lack of availability of some guild members. Also, our co gm has decided to leave the guild due to him wanting to see more progression and at a faster rate. This has made me look at my game and feelings also. I too have waited a long time to achieve the progression I want at a challenging speed and feel that the time is right to push on that extra yard. I think AOD are an excellent guild but they are at a crossroads now and I want more of a challenge than I feel they can offer.

What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others?
Mr Utility! I can bring all the expected buffs of a utility class - MOTW, battle res, reduce hit chance on tanks by 3% from IS, Moonkin aura buff of 5% crit, IFF for crit and hit - panic off heals and use of tranquility to avoid that 1% wipe and nice friendly innervate for that desperate healer or the mage that forgot to not just spam 1 button Very Happy But any boomkin can bring these. Most importantly I can bring reliability, skill, competency and a desire to achieve the best that I and the guild can.

What 1 thing would you change about your class if you could?
RNG. Poor boomkins lose so much dps due to movement. I would love to see a change to our main dps spells. When wrath or eclipse procs I would prefer it to be for a certain number of casts rather than time based. This way we would not lose out on the procs which are the main source of our damage.

What do you think you can add to Eternals?
A player with skill and a good character knowledge, a consistent raider who is committed to achieve all that is possible from the game in terms of pve. Reliability is crucial for me so I would be a player who can perform his job well and help others to acheive their best.

What do you think Eternals can do for you?
Provide me with a stable raiding guild that pursues progress and shares similar aims and goals as myself. Also, a group of like minded players who are serious about their raiding but enjoy the game and have a good sense of humour. I see Eternals as a guild that can challenge me to achieve more and be part of a successful core team, I want to see progress, I am happy to spend nights wiping for that progress and that feeling of OMG he is dead!

Personal infomation; Name, age, where you live, interests/hobbies, Job and family that will nag you to stop raiding?
My name is Lee, I am 35years old(not too old I hope as I still have all my faculties) and live in England. I work as a deputy head teacher, work hard and play hard! I live with my fiance (also a teacher). She has lived with me for years and accepts that I play the game every night for fun and to relax after educating the world! She gave up nagging me to quit ages ago and as long as I keep her sweet every so often, I have no grief from her. Heck, she even cooks my dinner now when I am raiding and places it next to the computer!

Additional information which you would like to name?[/b][/b]

RNG. Poor boomkins lose so much dps due to movement. I would love to see a change to our main dps spells. When wrath or eclipse procs I would prefer it to be for a certain number of casts rather than time based. This way we would not lose out on the procs which are the main source of our damage.

Blizz listened ;o (http://www.mmo-champion.com/)

Druid (Forums / Talent Calculator)
Eclipse
The purpose behind Eclipse was to encourage Balance druids to cast something besides their hardest hitting spell over and over again. From this thread it appears at least some of you were content with a "rotation" like that, but you'll have to believe me that it was a very common complaint we heard from druids as to what they disliked or why they didn't play Balance.

Now it's possible to base a rotation around a single spells. Mages are designed to do just that. However, they also have a lot of procs, cooldowns, secondary effects and other situational events that mean that even though you're getting most of your damage from one button, you're managing a lot.

We could have gone that way with Balance druids. We didn't largely because part of the kit of Balance is balance, and we thought that manifested itself nicely in switching between Arcane and Nature spells, or Starfire and Wrath, or Lunar and Solar.

The problem with Eclipse (as I've stated many times, so I find the comments that we won't address the issue to be a trifle unfair) is that it now accounts for so much of Balance's damage that the random element can be punishing. Having to shift positions right when you get a proc should be a little bit of a bummer on the level of missing a few crits in a row, and not a devastating blow to your dps.

We're keeping Eclipse, but the Cataclysm version is a pretty radical overhaul that we hope to be able to reveal soon. It removes a lot of the random element.

And @ Kaili: I try, but they really don't like booze Sad Fail kids are fail.

Ah, hadn't picked up on that from MMO - roll on Cat :0 Sounds very exciting for the moonkin. Will have to think of another wish for a change in character skills - but you just have to love the boomkin Smile Maybe a change so that our form doesn't look so fat!
