DK Tank - Passed (Accepted)

Post  Reese on Sat Feb 06, 2010 9:27 am

Characters name: Passed
Class: Death Knight
Race: Human
Armory link: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Ghostlands&cn=Passed

UI screenshot:
I dont have a screenshot i can post. However, i can explain the additions that i have. I have the usual suspects of Grid, Omen, DBM, recount. I also used Need to Know which shows counters for reactive spells and procs from attacks etc. This ensure i know exactly how many cooldowns are available, it is displayed just below the center of the screen.

Played Time on your character: 23d 19h 47m

Profesions and level of professions: Herb / Alchemy 450

Do you have a stable internet connection (Yes/No and average MS in raids): Yes MS is ~60

What other characters do you have?
Xaric (Formerly know as Reese)
Punished (Prot Warrior)
about 28 alts but only jump on them occasionally.

Raid times and Experience:

Monday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Tuesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Wednesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Thursday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Friday 19:30-xx:xx - Yes - Whenever we end
Saturday 19:30-xx:xx - Yes - Whenever we end
Sunday 19:30-23:00 - Yes

Do you have pre-WotLK raiding experience, if so what?
I am sure you know most of my pre-LK raid experince. I did all of BT with eternals on Reese. I previously raided the rest to t4. t5 & t6 with prosapia. I also completed most of vanilla with Irksome invaders on shadowsong upto and including 2 wings in classic naxx.

What 10 man and 25 man Ulduar bosses have you cleared and of which out of those bosses have you done on hard mode?
I have completed upto general Vezax with Reese in eternals on 10 & 25 man, I also completed the same on Passed as a tank. I have completed the first 4 bosses + Hodir & IC on hard mode in 10 man on passed, none completed in 25 man.

Character specific questions:

Explain your current gear choices and how you hope to improve then in the future.
Gear for a DK tank is fairly stright forward the only chocies really center around the trinkets. I have a couple of health trinkets and the parry trinket from onyxia 25 man. Which i choose between depending on the fight. I will also be getting the armour trinket today because of the dodge debuff in ICC. Currently i have a full set of 245 tank gear from toc 25 and toc 10 man HC. The only improvements for me are from t10 or hc 25 man totc.

Comment on how youve chosen to gem and enchant your character, and why you have chosen these gems/enchants.
I have gone for purely stamina. It is the best effective health for a DK The only exception to this is the nightmare tear in my helm to activate the meta gem.

What glyphs are you using and why?
major:
runestrike, death strike & dark death., All 3 are designed to increase my damage output and also increase threat generation. Death strike also has the benefit of incresing the amount healed when used. DS heals me for ~8.5k at present.
Minor:
Blood tap : means blood tap no lonmger causes damage to me when used.
ghoul: ability to summon a ghoul without the need of mats.
Pestilence :increase the AOE range of pestilence. Makes collecting groups of mobs easier.

Do you have any notable offspec gear and are you experience/up to date with the mechanics of playing your offspecs?
I do have a blook DPS spec but am currently working on gear for this. I should be able to get a set of T9 within a week.

We require you to have at least one crafting profession (not engineering). If you have two gathering professions, would you be prepared to reroll one?
I have herb / alchemy at present. This is for the flasks and also the increased time .the herb heal is alos used on occasion.

General questions

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving?
Eternals. I left because of personal issues at home but i am now back in the guild as social.
Prosapia. disbanded ner the end of T6.
Irksome Invaders. This was on shodowsong. It disbanded soon after TBC started. I moved to ghostlands at that point.

What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others?
With my DK i am able to tank or dps. Althouhg i am better geared for tanking and prefer this. I have lots of raid leading experience and i am not afraid to speak up to offer input on new fights. I have raiding for most of my 5 or so years in the game and have a vast knowledge of all classes.

What 1 thing would you change about your class if you could?
I would love a shield but thats not going to happen.

What do you think you can add to Eternals?
I am always good for a laugh and help keep spirits up in tough times. Although there are not many of those with the LK.

What do you think Eternals can do for you?
I wish to start raiding again with a good and commitied guild. Having raided previously with eternals i already know this is the perfect place to achieve this.

Personal infomation; Name, age, where you live, interests/hobbies, Job and family that will nag you to stop raiding?
Dave, old bastard. from London. My intersts include WOW, obviously, music and watching West ham lose a lot. MY family life is really settled now and raiding issues should not happen.

Additional information which you would like to name?.
I know most of you remember me from raiding on Reese. Although i have switched to a DK tank i assure you that i can place this class well and have what it takes to tank at the highest level.

I have tanked Naxx, Ulduar upto Gen vezax as stated earlier. I have also had some tried tanking Alagon but never killed him, best was 31%. I ahev also cleaer Totc on 10 & 25 man. I also have mad skill from 10 man. All as a tank.

I know i will be at the back of the queue as far as tanking is concerned and i understand this i just want the chance to raid again when needed. I have not done anything in ICC except for the first trash once.

If desu could look over the technical stuff that would be great (cos i know sod all about dks Smile)

We need another tank in guild, preferably one who can go dps aswell (though since all our other tanks have dps kits this shouldnt be too much of an issue). how's you dps knowlege/spec/gear/etc?

Solid/knowledgeable raider who knows his stuff, good presence on vent and a nice guy. gets my vote.

Specs fine ( Pick up hysteria though for me Cool )

gears fine aswell, and since most of us have raided with the bastard I think he deserves a fair chance of proving how much butt-whooping he can take

youve x-ferred away from us twice (3 maybe, memory fails me) times before. Is this going to be a worthwhile time and gear investment on our part?

I have no plans to move anywhere even if i dont raid again. I thought long and hard before speaking to beaker to see if it was worth me applying.

This is worth a trial, but on a certain format.
We currently run a 3 tank setup, with 2 warriors and a paladin, however one warrior has a shedules night off a week, and the other has some issues preventing him from attending as much as he'd like. When all 3 of these tanks are available, these are the ones we'd like to run with, as we have ran with the same tanks since t7. We do also need a dps death knight, and alot of nights we'll need this dk to tank. What I propose is that exactly, your time would be split roughy in half, tanking and dpsing in raids, depending on what we needed. (OFc if you proved to be better than one of our current tanks, we'd have to re-evaluate.)
So if you find that appectable, then we'll start a trial mate
